Mid Century Ranch

This home is a classic mid century ranch house with low ceilings, divided rooms and dated finishes. The owners desired open living space, better flow and an owners suite addition. The new design restructured walls and ceilings to open the main floor gathering space and added repurposed steel barn doors to allow privacy in the space as desired. To give the house a better flow, the overall floor plan was reorganized and created space to open up into the new suite addition. We wanted the new addition to maintain the feel and original architecture of the house, but give it some modern character. We maintained the western façade, and the orientation angled to provide views towards the foothills. The new addition not only created a desired privacy break from the rest of the house, it provided more natural light to the main house on a removed wall that previously had no windows.
