Grand Lake, Colorado
This property along Columbine Lake was claimed “unbuildable” due to a steep slope, road access and adjacent wetlands, but was one of the last homesites on the lakefront. We took it as a challenge to apply extreme creativity to build and design the house to blend into the surrounding environment and neighborhood. The inside is simple traditional styling, with mountain modern finishes. To accommodate the steep bank, the house is built 30’ below the road, while the garage sits at road level with a 30’ foundation and is accessible from a built-in bridge.
